Is it standard for a ob/gyn to hold sonogram/ultrasound equipment contained by their organization?
Or is it usual to go to a hospital to get an ultrasound? Thanks!

My Dr have her own well the practice has their own equipment. I've be to another Dr and they had their own too. I don't know why people are adage its not normal, I don't see why it wouldn't be. I think its more of a convenience, I would can`t bear to go to a different place to go bring back an ultrasound. The past two times I've had ultrasounds done, my Dr have done them, not a tech. The nurses assistant is in the room, but the Dr is the one to actually make the ultrasound. And I think my Dr even does the 3D ultrasounds there. I guess I picked a pious Dr, lol. Source(s): 16wks 1d
It depends on the practice and probably what country you live within. Are you in the US?
My old OB's practice have their own equipment. My new one does not, but refers you to place that specifically does ultrasounds and MRIs. The only time I go to the hospital for an U/S was when I went to the ER because of bleeding within pregnancy.
I know at my OB's office there is one domestic device and there is a tech that comes in once a week to do ultrasounds.
i have to progress to the hospital which is 1 minute from my dr office so it isnt bad
most insurance companies hold a certian place they will pay for your u/s to be done
Its not standard, I would prefer to hold mine at the hospital.
Most office will have at least one gadget somewhere in the office but not surrounded by every exam room
it isn't standard but many do...on the other hand many send you to a ultrasound clinic or the hospital...but the ones at the bureau work just as good
I enjoy to go to the hospital for all of my ultrasounds/sonograms.
At my dr's office they have several of their own...3 that I know of...
my doctors don't have one, I hafta go down the street to a different doctors organization.
Nope. Some OB/GYN's do own the machines, but most of the time you get sent to an ultrasound clinic to have them done.
Mine have one in his office
It depends on how much money the practice has.
With my first child, I went to the hospital for ultrasounds.
With my second and third, the doctors I go to had their own machines.
