Did I spend too much on photography equipment?
I spent lb571.
I bought the Canon 450D with 18-55mm lens, Two 2gb memory cards for it, a bag and a filter (helps save the lens clean and protect it from scratches.)
I'm clueless when it comes to photography. It's for my fiancee. She's considered necessary the Canon 450D for ages and it's sold out where we live.

I could spend $100000 on camera equipment so that is a pretty dutiful price.
What you salaried was about equivalent to $845 US. Here is a similar utensils from B&H:

The B&H kit only comes near one memory card. $752 US is about lb510. So if you bought it new, and get a second memory card, and when they are hard to get, and your girlfriend will love it, afterwards you got a good deal. B&H usually have pretty good prices. Considering you only rewarded about lb50 more but also got a second memory card, I assume you did just fine. If she loves it, then it be worth it.
If you got what you needed within your budget then NO you didn't spend too much.

I spent lb408 on that next to a 4GB memory card.
lb10 for the bag, and someone bought me a filter.
Thats about right.
lb570 for a whole kit is great worth. i just spent lb1300 on a lens - not thats nuts!
Good price!
WOW.. that's in fact a great price!
You did not spend too much. The Canon 450D is a great camera and will give your fiancee great results. Later she can buy lots of extra lenses and other accessories to move about with it.Depending where you live, and your budget, you can slightly often pick up very virtuous second hand items from reputable camera shops, at very upright prices.Good shooting in the future.
