Do police own equipment to carry into computers?
I believe a very high ranking police officer have gained information off my computer for his own personal gain. Is this possible can any one recommend me or have I been given the wrong information

It is possible for him to gain information but to use it on a personal level is private , may be trying to manipulate you or coerce you for control , if he is obsessed as you utter it may turn extremely dangerous with the infatuation of your girlfriend anyone the driving force , see a solicitor but it will be difficult to prove and he can and probably would make your life difficult . Your girlfriends evidence would be adjectives .
It is possible...thers is no such piece as 100% security in PC's or on the internet. But why would he? What are the cirucmstances? do you regard he had physical access to the PC or over the internet?

If it is to do with your GF, how does he intend to use this information? Is it for blackmail, self gratification, minipulation?
If you have a pure case or can provide the correct information you should report him to the IPCC (Police complaints commisison) or HM Inspectorate of Police. I would not try and deal next to this on a local level as an wrong doing is easy to cover up when deal with in-house.

I dont mean to be rude but another possibility only occured to me based on your update. It would be a very risky entity for this top cop to blab, any experienced investigator would know not to compromise his own evidence and incriminate himself, its just too obvious....
Is at hand any possibility your gf may have been checking your history herself and next saying she got the info from someone else to avoid drawing attention to herself and also using a top cop is smart view as if she did see something she didnt like (porn/dating sites etc) and you believed you were one observed you would probably stop as having a senior police officer on your case is intimidating and also this take attention from the only true source you can verify yourself, which is currently your girlfriend! Yes they can , there are programs that you can use to find intrusive attacks.or use a computer expert who can find them.
Yes they can get into computers in reality anybody can it's not rocket science. I don't in case anybody is interested.
Sure do. But have to have a bonafide apology to access your information. If you have proof than you can file a suite for invasion of privacy. Unless as you would expect there is probable cause for them to monitor you via the Patriot Act.
