Why does older taupe or platinum colored computer equipment "yellow" over time?
Do the flourescent lights in offices motive it to become yellowed or is it just because of age?
Answers:
It freshly does, there are alot of things that discolor as they get elder. If you dont like the discoloration of your computer(as long as its your personal computer and not one that is owned by someone else or an employer), I enjoy heard of someone actually drawing a computer. Most paints age and "go off" over time, and the heat from the PC accelerate the process. Now that you mention it, I wonder if something like T-Cut (for cars) would restore the color. Old cases are sometimes worth keeping or respraying because they are still perfectly usable for a current PC and they are often quite glorious quality; cheap new cases are usually incredibly thin and weak.
It's just age and the composition of those specific plastics. It happens in incandescent lighting and next to computers mostly used in darkened rooms.
I got a white plastic desk appurtenances set about eight years ago. Two pieces are still white. The third is closer to the color of the yellow page.
