Help From a Heavy Equipment Operator!!?

My boyfriend is looking into becoming a heavy equipment operator, ive be looking for informations but i cant quite find any!
I wanted to know things close to is it in high emergency and if he would make ok money? We live in Canada but if you live surrounded by the states ide still love to hear from you! So here are a few of my questions:
-Do they gross good money?
-Do you have to move alot?
-Is it a steady position, like an everyday thing?
-Is it glib to move up in a company? (and possibly make more money?)

Dont suggest im in this just for the money because im not :P i in recent times think its important to create sure that you can support a family before you in fact get into doing a job!

I see too many unemployed or underemployed stout equipment operators as it is.

The job core would probably rate to train him as a tractor trailer driver faster because of the quantity of driver jobs available.
