Hey there ,here is a nice page;

When you parley about "industrial sewing machine", you should recognize that at hand are usually some highly specialized machines being used surrounded by the production of most sewn goods -- like machines that do nought but a particular type of buttonhole, or bartacking machines, or blindstitchers.
Probably the two most versatile piece of equipment types used in garment making are the lockstitch machine, which is much similar to the home straight stitch sewing machines that were popular till about the 1960s. The other multi-use class is the overlocker, often known within industrial circles as a merrow, and to home sewing enthusiasts in the US as a serger.
For more information on lockstitch machines, and on care and feed of modern industrial machines, go to http://www.fashion-incubator.com, search for "Adler" and after read and follow links.
For overlockers, the Merrow company has one of the best and most informative websites: http://www.merrow.com
What sort of information are you looking for? Machine classes? Feet? Power sources? Technical specs? Source(s): 50 years of sewing

I would jump to a sew/vac specialty store where you could actually try some, and gossip to a professional.
Good luck!
