I own a singer industrial sewing apparatus that be made within 1896. It is a model 7 does anyone own any info?
I have only be able to find out the manufacture date of the tool from Singer and it was dated back to June 5, 1896. I do not hold nor can find any other information on this machine. Can anyone help?
I am also looking to restore and display the contraption. Does anyone have any ideas to restore this?
Answers:
Not enough info here. Basic sewing machines own not changed at all since their invention. IF the machine is out of order, any repair person can adjust, clean, grease and get it working. If it is in a satchel, and you want to refinish the case, go for it. But DO NOT paint or do anything to the finish of the sewing gadget head...you will devalue it. Good luck
contact the closest antique dealer surrounded by your city and tell them.
Try doing a scan on ebay to see if anything else is selling one. Sometimes they'll list interesting tidbits in the description of their auction. Use advanced turn out to find auctions that have closed.
This may also give you an model of how much your item is worth.
Good luck.
I would try locating a collector or someone that knows around antiques to find out how to restore it. Good luck!
Does it enjoy a foot bobbin or a knee throttle? You say industrial, is it bigger afterwards an average sewing machince? The Smithsonian had a Signer exhibit about two years ago, possibly if you contact them they can point you in the right direction.
