How to hang up bead board on a lathe/plaster ceiling?
Old house, peeling paint, uneven ceiling surface, holes. what method to hold up 4X8 bead panel sheets. Finish fastener gun not working. pulls out. Liquid nails inoperative because of poor plaster quality. (other problem is Hubby does great with metal/vehicles but not wood, can't afford to hire) Thought I have a great quick answer to ceiling problem in kitchen, in a minute have many sheets of bead board and can't install it. back please.

the best means of access is to go to a hard ware store and ask them in the region of butter fly nuts and how to use them, they have some great people who can facilitate..
Get you a stud finder that will measure density, Then find the studs, once you find the studs the post is easy, use your nail gun to fastener the bead board up to the studs. Piece of cake.Your best bet on the stud finder is to buy the best one since plaster is pretty thick and uneven.
What you need to do is find the Ceiling joists. They are the colossal [ 2x8+] horizontal wood members that your wood lath [ 1x 3/8] is attached to. The Joists should be running perpendicular to the long axis of the house and should be 24" on center -
if you find the lath and not the joist , know that the lath other ruins perpendicular to the joists.
The rest is flowing. Buy a good stud sensor . Read and understand the instructions . If aesthetics allow: It's deeply easier to install the board and bead
across the joists always nail in the" Valleys". I'm sure that there are concrete carpenters that will either add to or correct some of this , but this is where on earth you have to start
