How do i formulate wood plugs, for significant rate ears. while useing a lathe?

i have 3/4 holes and i want to start makeing my own plugs and tunnels for them.

well..im at 3/4 too.. but iv never made ne of my wood plugs..only just go on ebay and find a gauge store near.. i always get mine for roughly speaking 10-20$
