Has anyone ever hear or read of the stories roughly the Dragon Lathe?

I remember the stories from some time ago. The lathe (or forge) was the place that an ancient smith created the five swords for the five guardians of the Earth and the Ealdwood (the Ealdwood was prearranged as the center of the universe). The smith's furnace where he heated the metal to form the swords was within the form and shape of a dragon...and was alive.

I am trying to find these stories again, but I can't seem to find files where the stories were published. I do not recall the name of the author. I know the author C J Cherryh had written stories of the Ealdwood, but I know she is not the one who wrote these. Any back would be greatly appreciated.

Check the Dragon Lance series, it deals with plentifully of dragon folklore, including some borrowed from other books and series. Hope you have luck in your turn out.
