I enjoy a wall which have worn out lathe and plaster. Can I basically remove the plaster and screw on an MDF board?
I am stripping a bathroom wall and found lathe and plaster was falling and crumbling away....Can I just remove the plaster and screw on an MDF board on to the wood or will I necessitate to plaster over again? I am going to tongue and groove on top. Need advice.
Answers:
your going to have to replaster or it will not come out right you merely can't screw mdf board onto the wood what are you thinking.
depends on which way you are going to put on new boarding.
surrounded by anycase, i would insert noggins between the main uprights, to the level of the finished plaster. If the clean boarding is going vertical you will need to do this anyway, It would be quicker but a lot more messy.
Suggest stuff with glasswool cover whole wall near plastic sheet and don't forget to varnish the underside with outdoor quality varnish x 2.don't use plain steeel pannel pins they will rust and discolour wood, again outdoor standard varnish for top coat, using priner first to seal wood Source(s): done lots of times
remove all plaster and lathe replace beside the green sheetrock which is required for bathrooms
