Lathe tools?

What are the different shapes of lathe gouges and what is each shape's purpose? I'm a pretty experienced wood worker, but I enjoy little experience for this machine. For how much can I buy a good lathe?

Look on ebay for your lathe. It is strong to answer your question even though I am an experienced lathe operater, the different shapes will do alot of different things. I would suggest a coromant sandvik training even though this will only cover the toughness and the essentials of their inserts. The best way to learn is to DO IT. The triangle is used for boring and lathing the O.d. They are pretty much used for every operation. I hope this help but the best way to learn is to use one.
