Problem near lathe speed control device?

I have a small 7x12 mini metalworking lathe with a unfixed speed motor. I found out that the speed control device inside needs to be replaced. I already tried to replace some of the components inside but that did not do anything.

The speed control device has a number on the backbone that reads: SEIG-FC250JSMD. The best price for this speed controller is about $90 and I don't want to buy another one when the inventive one died so easily.

Is it possible that I can get a robust duty one that is compatible with indistinguishable machine?
