Where can I find a size K belt for a wood lathe that I dont' hold any information on?
Having problems finding a replacement.
Answers:
Go to a good place that sells gears, sprockets, pulleys and belts - power distribution equipment. They will know how to tell you how to measure the belt for correct size, etc. If you want choices online, you might look at www.mscdirect.com
Mike and Stickman both have virtuous answers. Most rural tractor supply stores carry a wide sort of belts, and of course, any business that caters to power transmission, will possible have what you need.
In tallying to those, you might try your local auto parts store.
Now... the trick with any of these sources, is going to be getting the type of belt you need (flat, multi-groove, 'V', etc), and the size (width and length). If you hold the old belt, you can take it when you walk shopping, and find a match. If not, then you can run a piece of ribbon, string, a leather belt, etc.. around the pulleys, and imperfection where it meets. This will recount you the length you need. Then measure the extent of the pulley it goes around, to see how wide the belt wishes to be. If you don't have the original belt, cart a photo or two, of the pulleys along with the dimensions, when you go shopping.
