Autofeed on a Nardini MS 1440 Manual Lathe?
I've got a Nardini MS 1440 Manual Lathe. There's no manual, and I'm trying to amount out how to get the autofeed to work. I've looked over the combinations, and tried various ones, but the autofeed doesn't turn on.
Any back??
I know I can buy a manual, I'd just resembling to find the information for free, since I know how to work the lathe other than this.
Thank you.
"> I don't know your lathe, but will speak generalities.
The first entity is see whether the feed drive shaft rotates. There should be 2 shafts running along the front of the machine, the nurture shaft and the screwcutting shaft. The screwcutting shaft is the one that has a thread all along it.
The plain (usually have a keyway along its length) is the one that should be running when the spindle rotates.
If it isn't, check that the gears are in place and rotating behind the cover at the vanished end of the lathe. Check the "Norton" box is engaged. Check the "tumbler" gears are affianced for either forward or reverse rotation of the feed shaft.
If the screwcutting shaft is rotating instead, silver the select lever to drive the feed shaft.
Once the feed shaft is rotating, try adjectives the autofeed on the saddle, either for cross or longitudinal feeding. If the lever(s) won't engross, check that the screwcutting lever is in the fully disengaged position, and try again the feed.
If the nurture shaft is rotating and engaging the cross or longitudinal feeds produces no movement, and the lathe have a push/ pull selector knob for change between cross and long nurture, check it is in one or the other.
You should now enjoy feeds. If you don't, something is broken!
There is often a shear pin driving the nurture shaft, just near the Norton box output. It might be sheared. Symptom would be the shaft rotating, but stopping when you try to occupy feed.
