I a short time ago acquire a 1954 Shopsmith lathe. I am modern to turning, but, want to buy power turning tools.?
Assuming that I will eventually buy a better lathe. I don't want to invest in sub par turning tools, only to be dissapointed. Sorby, Crown... What are your thoughts?
Answers:
I meditate most any of the turning tools you can buy from Woodcraft, Rockler, Lee Valley etc will work well.
The most important point is to keep them sharp. One of the best inexpensive systems I've seen for this is the Worksharp 3000. I enjoy one and it works great. Source(s): TLD's life as a woodbutcher
I have a shopsmith and I picked up a hugely nice expensive set on Craig's list. It is worth checking since I only give the guy $20 for all of them and it is a few hundred worth of turning tools.
