Can machinery or electronics save a vehicle remote from working?

I have a new Ford Fiesta not even a year feeble. All of a sudden the car remote does not want to work. However it only give trouble at my work parking lot. It works perfectly at my home or anywhere else. A new building site near heavy machinery has simply recently started right next to my work parking lot. Is this effecting the vehicle remote? What else could be the cause?

If it interrupts the radio signal, sure.

If you've tried it in different spots (supermarket, parking lot, whatever) and it's individual work, then yeah, it could do it.
Make sure that there are no massive metallic objects (metal building, chain-link fence, etc. between your remote and your car when you use it.

If the builders are using a 2-way radio on a frequeuency close to your remote's for communications it can incentive your locks and whatnot to operate erratically and randomly at times.

large metallic objects between transmitter and addressee act as shielding against radio waves. (They are deflect off the metal object instead of hiting the receiver's antenna.)
