12 points on driving license auto Ban, can you still drive plant machinery?

I wonder if anyone out there have the answer to my question.
My son got caught yesterday driving whilst on his mobile.. and yep he get caught by the police. He already has 9 points on his license so these 3 new points for using the mobile are going to automatically refusal him for a year.
He works as a ground worker and drives machinery ie: dumper truck and roller etc
Does anyone know if he can still drive the machinery?
And ideas about how he may find off the 3 points.. can he take a course or something?
Any thinking are gratefully accepted.

The only method out is not to get those 3 points, and your only hope is a apposite attorney. It won't be cheap, but it will be better than losing his job.
He needs to do everything he can to avoid those points. His companies insurance may not allow him to drive any of the company vehicle (on road or off) with a suspended license.
