What happen if an incorrect nucleotide is not removed & replaced by the cell's dna correcting machinery?

a- a point mutation has occured
b- the result is a chromosomal aberration
c-the effect will be lethal and the cell will die
d- the cell will become cancerous
e- the entire chromosome must be destroyed
Answers:
A, its a point mutation. This may or may not own any effect in the eventual protein product. Proteins may be encoded by several different amino acid (AA) sequences. If you happen to swap out one AA for a comparable one then no harm done. Also, some proteins may be encoded by more than one gene so if you lose one and you still enjoy a back up then its adjectives good. However if none of the above is true then in that are many things that could happen. It could become cancerous, could encode a deleterious protein, could inflict a mutation that is actually plus (ie evolution). So anyway, its hard to say but the with the sole purpose correct answer is that a point mutation occured.
