First of all you are required to get hold of IEC No. from DGFT Office.
For import you are required to file Bill of Entry beside Customs.
For export you are required to file shipping bill with customs.
However, within case you are importing underneath any export promotion scheme like EPCG; you are required to purchase the said scrip/document from DGFT before clearance of goods from customs.
