Answers:
Most machine shops of the mid-1800s have a steam engine separated from the rest of the shop. The engine drove a belt that ran up in the ceiling. The sundry lathes, drills, presses, and mills all ran rotten of the belt up in the overhead. If any of these belts (made from buffalo hide) broke, then the drive released would decapitate a man easily!
Spinning Jenny's,steam engines,steam trains,
Steam road rollers, steam Lorry's,steam water pumps,
water generate machinery like large hammer
that were powered by water wheel, this could also
be used to lift cargo, brought by barges to the mills,
by conduit barges then lowered into barges when
product were organized for distribution.
Water generated machinery was the most important
source of power before the steam engine came into
use.Wind be also a source of power used ie in
windmills to drive the cogs round to grind flour
for bread making.
