How can I form a metal/rock/swing (big nouns sound) leash?
As an ageing rocker (yes I know that "you're never too old to Rock'n'Roll if you're too young to die" Thanks JT) I find that my musical taste are expanding (just like my waist-line).
I can still sing the "rock" thing...but I preference to try something a little different! I know that Paul Anker has done a "pop/swing" point but how about a metal/rock/swing thing? Along the lines that Hayseed Dixie are doing near the Blue Grass/Metal vibe!
SO - My question is......How does one find "Big Band" musicians and try to pursuade them that the re-interpretation of Metal/Rock classics will work?
I know that it will work - the arrangements are all buzzing around surrounded by my head...
Imagine - Jack Black meets Glenn Miller.....WOW!
Thanks to the (probable) solitary answer...contained by anticipation!

I'd say the best bet is to try to find people at the local college who play within the jazz or concert bands. It sounds like an interesting conception, but I'm sure it would probably be a pain in the *** to try to find some elder people who play the instruments you need within order to form the band. Younger associates are generally more open minded, that's why I'd suggest the college piece. You can also try posting an advert in your local music shop's community board.
Good luck
