Is bending of tube stock is subdivision of sheet metal forming process? if it is so, what are the bending processes?
Answers:
tube bending is not usually covered by sheetmetal work.
However i can tell you tube bending is usually done one of two ways.
Small bore tube is done by hand on a tube bender which have a former and a roller with a mandel on a handle which is pulled around the former.
larger tube/pipe is done on a hydraulic pipe bender which simply is a hydraulic jack that pushes a former die up between two captive rollers.
For larger radius tube/pipe rolling the usual machine is a Tauring which consists of a set of adjustable rollers driven by an electric motor.
Very difficult to describe accurately within words I am afraid. Source(s): ex sheety who has done all of the above processes various, many times
