They move your body for you while you lay on a 'bed', thus giving your muscle the exercise without stressing your heart. you dont exactly NEED to exercise to lose mass. as long as you are creating a calorie defecit from what your BMI is you will lose weight. the reason we exercise is so we can munch through more while we diet and gets us in better physical shape but to lose substance you dont necesarily have to exercise
Swimming is so low impact, I assume you can't use the treadmill because of shared problems, a lot of people hold problems similar to that, I reccomend the Eliptical trainers, swimming, and just good older walking. Try lowering your caloric intake by atleast 200 calories and getting a good 45 min of activity 4-6 times a week.
