What is the definitive way to mill the 4 sides (1 top,1 bottom,1 front and 1 back) piece of work roughly square work so it becomes immaculately square/parallel assuming the vice and head are all square to the bed.

Fairly straightforward, if 2 of the faces are already parallel, and you just have to mill the other 4. Clamp between the parallel surfaces and mill the top, then turn it over and mill the bottom. You consequently have a choice. If the work is more of a plate than a block (i.e. relatively thin between top and bottom) you can any clamp it so that one edge is protruding from the vice and mill that edge. If the work is more of a block afterwards it can be rotated between the jaws until a side is uppermost and a square laid on the milling table can be used to make sure that the bottom and top are now vertical.
