What equipment uses the rectangular 4.5V mobile near blade terminal?

The rectangular 4.5V battery with blade terminal on the top is commonly used in primary school science experiments on electricity, but I enjoy never encountered any equipment that uses them. Is there any equipment around that uses these battery? If so, then what?
