Can amateur boxers use Pro equipment?

Can they? Or only amateur gloves, headgear, etc.

if they want they could but not contained by the ring. there are rules concerning this. that is why here is in fact amateur equipment and professional equipment
during training, by all means use the best equipment possible (which usually medium pro equip), but at the fights you will get checked by a usa boxing commisioner and if adjectives your gear doesnt abide by usa boxing regulations you cant fight (no pro equip will pass usa boxing regulations, adjectives amateur boxing gear will have a patch on it with the usa boxing symbol on it, thats how you can tell)
In training sessions it doesn't matter.

In competitions one and only amateur equipment is allowed due to special regulations of the AIBA and regional amateur boxing associations (USA boxing, EABA, ect.). Source(s): 5 years of amateur boxing
