It's true for US troops surrounded by Iraq as well. Military families own to send all kind of equipment overseas. I know one family who raised $12k to provide needed equipment to their son's outfit. I judge it's a disgrace. So many politicians find it convenient topay lip service to "the troops" and then don't wager on it up with provisions, health protection, and protection.

And, in Iraq they called us the Borrowers, and it be true, they had stuff fit for battle, we didn't.. Half the stuff they hold in Afg. is just bling, and unlike us, they're not trained to vary anything to make it work.
But anybody in Helmand immediately will tell you they are also getting anything they ask for in the means of access of new kit. And the antagonist is doing very effective incapacitate by adapting stuff that's 50 years old!
