While it is easy to find unusual gear at the end of the season, used gear is found easier in the hasty part of the season. People tend to buy new gear surrounded by the clearance sales but don't usually sell their used stuff until they've skied the trial stuff in the following season. Try to find ski swaps in October or look on cragslist surrounded by November or December, this is where you'll find the best used deals.
