I've bought my last two pairs off ebay. Both be in excellent condition and I saved even more money on them than I could own if I bought them with my pro-deals or Ski Patrol discounts.
Try the ski shops toward the end of the season. They regularly sell off the demo skis and boots dirt cheap. Sometimes some boots never even catch used.
Ski boots are an intensely personal choice. I would never, EVER buy a boot unless I tried them on and determined fit and comfort be to my personal taste.
Price is no guarantee of good fit. I hold a very old couple of rear entry boots that were $20 and enjoy no interest in trying new boots. My aged Nordicas fit great, hold my heal very firmly within the heel cup, and are quite suitable for my needs.

Internet is a good suggestion but also is any reputable manacle sporting goods store. Ask one of the clerks to help you but ask him also something like his expertise on the slopes. You want someone who speaks from experience. Ski ya later.
If you have any sizing issues at all buy your boots frontage to face. The other responders have have good luck buying on line. Only do it if you get hold of full refunds including shipping.
