Where can I acquire used karate equipment/weapons?
go to ebay.com do a go through for martial arts or karate.
If you go to AWMA.com, they have awfully good martial arts stuff. The parcels stand for Asian World of Martial Arts, and that's what they do.
But their products are fairly priced, it's where my sensei does adjectives of his Karate related shopping.

In a word - DON'T
Karate equipment and weapons are insecure at best and deadly at worst. Never buy them used or from an unknown dealer. I've see what happens when a bo staff shatters or a nunchuka chain breaks. You could slickly and seriously hurt hourself or those around you.
The best thing you can do, assuming you are a student, is to talk to your instructor. Basic student equipment and firepower are relatively cheap. Most can be had for $20 or less. Some can even be made yourself beside $5 in materials with backing from your instructor.
If you are not a student, then become one before you try to carry your hands on weapons. Even next to instruction, I've hurt myself a few times (just bruises, strained muscles, and a cut or two so far) so I cannot imagine how badly someone could accidently hurt himself or others next to no training.
Your sons sensei will be able help receive him weapons and also look in different karate and military arts magazines and you can usually order different equipment and armaments through different suppliers
if you need to ask , get oblige immediately, for the sake of the rest of us, lets hope your not approaching the kid from Virginia
I am in the process of relocating my dojo currently. We are moving at the end of this month. In our bright space we do not have room for a large amount of armaments like we do now. Also, abundantly of students have left armaments here and there over the years. So I have moderately a few used weapons that we will be throwing away. If you are interested let me know, however I mull over shipping might cost as much as purchasing one.
