If you want something affordable check out the Canon 50D you will do fine with that. A good lens that wont break the wall is the 70-200 f/2.8 IS. Oh wait, no budget? The canon 1D mark III NOT the 1Ds. The 70-200 f/2.8 IS is still a great lens a used by like mad of pros. You can get the 300 f/2.8 but you might enjoy the span of the zoom. I dont know what your experience is, but since you are asking this question ill guess fixed. If thats the case I would recommend not getting the 1D mark III, as it will swamp you next to features you have no idea what to do beside, and it has no automatic modes. Go wit the canon 50D and 70-200 f/2.8 IS.
I usually go to www.dpreview.com whenever I'm confused beside the camera brands/models/functions.
In that website, almost all brands & models of cameras are rated by professionals, and every single tiny detail of respectively & every feature is provided. At the end they also impart a conclusion report and whether they recommend it or not.
Go for strong reliable brands such as Canon or Nikon. These go way vertebrae in digital photography technology research and will give you peace of mind beside their products. Anyway good luck with your declaration :))
The concluding time I shot horses racing, I used a Canon 1Ds, Mark III ... $8,000 with 600 mm f/4 IS ... $9,000
I presently use a Nikon D3 ... $5,000 with the 600 mm f/4 VR .. $9,500. Why the change? Better low hullabaloo at high ISO's as well as other features, resembling using all the old Nikon lenses from 1959 including adjectives the DX lenses. My old Canon's cannot use EF-S lenses.
